the autofader
The MLD Autofader is a simple controller designed for colour mixing
applications. The unit requires a +15V DC power supply which it can obtain from
most dimmers or an
MLD Dimpak. It is designed to fit into a standard 2 gang wall
box.
The Autofader has two modes of operation, manual and automatic. In the manual
mode the levels of the three primary colours plus white can be controlled by
four rotary controls and 4 x 0-10V output signals are generated accordingly.
In the automatic mode the Autofader generates a cross-fading sequence through
the three primary colours. The speed of this sequence can be adjusted from 20
seconds and 20 minutes. When in Automode the overall output level can be
adjusted by a master level control. The Autofader can also be fed with signals
from an external lighting such as a 3 x channel sound-to-light modulator and the
Autofader can be switched to allow these signals to pass through.
In complex installations a single Autofader can be used to control many zones of
different types of colour-mixing. This ensures that the colours of all zones are
kept in sync. For such complex installations MLD have designed an ancillary
product called a Colour Balancer.
The MLD Colour Balancer allows up to four zones of colour mixing lighting to be
controlled independently. The level of the red, green and blue signals for each
zone can be balanced separately. It also allows each zone to be switched on and
off independently. The MLD Colour Balancer is designed to interface directly
with the MLD Architek control system to allow zones of colour mixing to be
selected on each of its four pre-sets.
